Classes
Group classes built on individual benchmarks.
Every Atelier & Sons class uses your personal numbers as the load prescription — so the same session challenges a beginner and a seasoned lifter differently.
How our group classes produce individual results
Group fitness often fails the serious trainee because the load is set for an imaginary average. At Atelier & Sons, every class format uses percentage-of-baseline as the load prescription. If today's strength session calls for 75% of your back squat, the app calculates your personal weight in kilograms or pounds before you walk through the door. The instructor's role is cueing and coaching, not dictating a single weight for twenty different bodies. This approach means a 63-year-old returning from a knee injury and a 28-year-old competitive runner can train in the same session without compromise. Classes are capped at 14 participants. Instructors are required to hold a nationally recognised coaching certification and to complete our internal technique assessment before leading a session. The forest-cream environment — natural light through polished-concrete walls, walnut benches along the perimeter — keeps the room easy to concentrate in rather than overstimulating.
Class formats on the schedule
Foundation Strength
A 55-minute session built around the five compound lifts — squat, hinge, press, pull, carry. Loads are percentage-based from your baseline. Offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 06:00 and 18:00. This is the backbone class; most members attend at least two Foundation sessions per week.
Metabolic Conditioning
A 45-minute circuit-style session with a strength-endurance focus. Heart-rate targets replace percentage loads as the prescription unit. Offered Tuesday and Thursday at 06:30 and 17:30, and Saturday at 08:00. Pairs with Foundation Strength for a complete weekly training stimulus.
Mobility & Recovery
A 40-minute coach-led session covering joint mobility, soft-tissue work, and controlled breathing protocols. Not a stretch class — it's a structured recovery session that feeds directly into the following week's training load. Offered Sunday at 09:00 and Wednesday at 12:00.
Power Development
An advanced 60-minute session with Olympic lifting derivatives and plyometric progressions. Prerequisites: at least one completed 12-week block at Atelier & Sons and a minimum baseline back squat of 1.25× bodyweight. Offered Saturday at 10:00. Instructor-evaluated entry.

“I was nervous about group classes because I've always been the weakest person in the room. The percentage-based loading changed everything — I was lifting my own 75%, not someone else's. By month two I stopped thinking about who was next to me and started watching my own numbers improve.”

Class questions
Do I need to be a member to attend classes?
Classes are available to Coached and Personal Training tier members as part of their membership. Open Floor members can add class access for $30 per month. Non-members can purchase a ten-class pack for $180 — class pack holders receive a condensed baseline assessment so percentage-based loads still apply to their sessions.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Classes open for booking seven days in advance in the member app. Popular slots — Monday and Wednesday 06:00 Foundation Strength — typically fill within 24 hours of opening. We hold one waitlist spot per class; if a cancellation comes in more than two hours before the session, the waitlist spot is automatically offered via app notification.
What happens if I miss a class I've booked?
Cancellations within two hours of the session are charged a $10 late-cancel fee. No-shows are charged $15. These exist because the 14-person cap is strict and a last-minute vacancy can't be filled. The fees aren't punitive — they simply protect the members on the waitlist.
Can I attend Power Development as a new member?
Power Development has a hard prerequisite: one completed 12-week block at Atelier & Sons and a minimum baseline back squat of 1.25× your bodyweight. The instructor evaluates readiness at a brief technique screen before your first session. The prerequisite exists because Olympic derivatives require a movement foundation that typically takes a full block to build reliably.
Fourteen spots. Your name could be on one.
